Senior IT Project Manager
Our tech and transformation teams are the quiet powerhouses behind Northerns biggest changes finding new ways to simplify systems save time and deliver better services for millions of people across the North. As a Senior IT Project Manager youll be right at the heart of that.
Youll lead complex high impact projects that affect our teams our customers and the future of how we work. Its a big remit but you wont be doing it alone youll be supported by an experienced IT portfolio team. Theres also the chance to step up and deputise for the IT Portfolio Manager when needed bringing your leadership to the wider transformation strategy and keeping our delivery running smoothly.
What youll be doing
- Managing multiple transformational projects from start to finish keeping everything on time in scope and on budget.
- Leading a team of junior project managers with a focus on mentoring development and support.
- Taking the reins when the IT Portfolio Manager is away representing the team in senior meetings and steering strategic discussions.
- Keeping an eye on the bigger picture across our change portfolio spotting interdependencies and solving problems before they start.
- Making sure were working in line with rail governance and regulatory requirements.
- Working closely with senior leaders operational teams technology partners and suppliers to make sure everyone is aligned.
- Managing project budgets and resources effectively including spotting any pinch points and helping reallocate where needed.
- Leading the way on risk issue and dependency management across complex projects.
- Ensuring plans RAID logs and documentation are always up to date and accessible.
- Building strong trusted relationships with stakeholders to keep delivery on track.
About you
PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner certified Great. A bachelors degree would also help but were more interested in what youve done. Youll need:
- Strong project leadership experience particularly in managing complex business-critical change.
- A strong track record of leading cross functional change projects.
- Experience working with complex budgets and business-critical systems.
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities and still move things forward.
- Confidence working at senior level and influencing decision making.
- Great communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
