Kennel Assistant

37068- 38058 pro rata (part time)

1 Year Fixed Term

Experience required with domestic animals/kennels

Required to work Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday 29 hours a week plus all bank holidays

You need a FULL UK manual driving licence

The Kennel Assistant post is a unique and challenging role:

  • You will beresponsible as part of a team for kennel and cattery duties
  • You will be part of a team that is responsible for investigating complaints regarding animals and dangerous dogs and taking appropriate action when and as necessary.
  • You will be part of a team responsible for impounding stray dogs
  • You will be part of a teamresponsible for thetransportation of dogs and other animals as required
  • You will bepart of a team responsible for maintaining clear and accurate records and updating data bases
  • You will be part of a team responsible for working onsite in all weathers including outside areas
  • You must hold a valid full manual UK Driving Licence
  • You must be willing to undertake CPD Training where relevant and keep up to date in legislative changes
  • You will be required as part of the team to cover the service over the weekend and bank holiday with occasional weekdays 365 days a year
  • You will be expected to carry out some lone working duties

You must have the following relevant experience

  • Experience of handling dogs and cats in a kennel/cattery environment and ideally experience of handling nervous and aggressive animals.
  • Experience in dealing with members of the public
  • You must be able to maintain records and deal with aggressive members of the public
