Key Responsibilities of an Expediting Manager Mechanical Fabricated & Electrical Components
1. Vendor Coordination & Follow-Up
- Act as a single point of contact between Voith and vendors/suppliers.
- Follow up with vendors for timely dispatch of materials (electrical panels switchgear cables fabricated steel parts etc.).
- Ensure proper documentation is prepared by vendors for dispatch and delivery.
2. Delivery Tracking & Reporting
- Monitor delivery schedules and ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Update internal systems (e.g. SAP) with delivery status.
- Flag potential delays and initiate corrective actions proactively.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with procurement logistics quality and project teams to ensure seamless flow of materials.
- Align with engineering and manufacturing teams for changes in specifications or priorities.
4. Inspection & Quality Coordination
- Coordinate with the Quality team for pre-dispatch inspections at vendor sites.
- Ensure all QA/QC protocols are followed before material shipment.
5. Documentation & ERP Updates
- Maintain all expediting logs delivery schedules inspection reports and shipping documentation.
- Update ERP tools (like SAP) regularly for visibility and audit purposes.
6. Risk Identification & Mitigation
- Identify supply risks such as material shortages vendor capacity constraints or logistics issues.
- Work with stakeholders to resolve or escalate issues in time.
7. Vendor Evaluation Support
- Provide performance feedback on vendors based on delivery responsiveness and quality.
- Support in rating and developing supplier improvement plans where needed.
