Who we are looking for:

Slate is looking for a dynamic experienced Quality Engineer to join our growing team. The position will primarily focus on new seat product and process development and will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and successful plant launch. The role will utilize core quality skills and tools to manufacture and deliver the highest quality seats within our various manufacturing processes. The expectation will be to work closely with internal and external partners to ensure we exceed customers expectations.

What you get to do:

  • Develop and implement robust quality assurance and control processes related to seat systems.
  • Assist in defining testing equipment for seats in launching a new plant.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality requirements are developed and seamlessly integrated within the manufacturing process.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to address technical and process quality issues to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Perform regular audits and inspections of manufacturing processes ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications for the new seat launch and plant launch.
  • Work closely with suppliers through the supplier quality team to establish and monitor quality expectations for incoming materials and components.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation including control plans inspection procedures and quality manuals accordingly.
  • Risk minimization through use of appropriate risk assessment tools and verification of the robustness of detection and prevention systems for special characteristics.
  • Support the development and maintenance of FMEA and control plans through the APQP methods.
  • Support the definition of quality processes and technical standards in cooperation with development product management and manufacturing to ensure product quality.
  • Support the planning and evaluation of seat product testing within quality and approvals of functions and systems.
  • Provide quality support to the technical and manufacturing teams as well as drive/support daily operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the team:

The role will be expected to have high integrity curiosity resourcefulness and strive to exhibit a positive and growth mindset. You will feel comfortable operating in a flexible and fast-paced environment with a collaborative approach to achieving goals! Youll also bring:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (e.g. industrial mechanical manufacturing) or related field experience in place of education.
  • 15 years of experience in automotive engineering/manufacturing quality at an OEM/Tier 1.
  • Very good technical understanding and sound knowledge of product/vehicle development and production with focus on manufacturing and plant launch specializing in our seating department.
  • A successful history of engaging in the delivery of new program launches with seating on time while achieving metrics.
  • Very good product and process assessment skills problem solving and root cause capabilities.
  • Sound knowledge of quality management with in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control disciplines with seat systems.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills a high level of assertiveness as well as entrepreneurial thinking and goal-result-oriented decision-making skills.
  • Proven track record of engaging and participating in high-performing teams.
  • Proficient in the use of commonly applied quality tools and processes in the automotive industry (e.g. AIAG IATF 169494 MSA SPC APQP PPAP etc.).
  • Good working knowledge of core documentation - FMEAs and Control Plans.
  • Highest level of integrity and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced start-up environment.
