Job Description

LISA Academy Public Charter Schools is hiring team members for the kitchen team! We are looking for a positive and energetic team member who has a love for cooking and serving students and making an impact in their day at the LISA Academy Fayetteville and Rogers campuses

Position:Cook

Department:Child Nutrition/ Operations

Reports to:Cafeteria Manager

Job Type:Hourly/ Full time

Work Schedule:192 days

Job Summary/ Primary Purpose:

Work cooperatively with other nutrition team members to provide excellent food and outstanding customer service to students teachers staff and visitors for the LISA Academy school district.

Performance Responsibilities/ Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to recipes and directions for the number of meals to be served
  • Calculates ingredients needed measures and mixes them
  • Portions food items according to serving called for in the recipe or from the Cafeteria Manager
  • Prepares food to look appealing and pleasing to the students eyes and serves food to students and if needed serves to teachers staff and visitors.
  • Maintain a pattern of prompt and regular attendance
  • When needed take the initiative to step in and help other team members with cooking cleaning serving etc. To help the team accomplish tasks for the day.
  • Working with team to drive the nutrition cargo van as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service
  • Maintain high standards of sanitary conditions in the cafeteria including employee cleanliness food handling preparation and storage.
  • Communicates efficiently with supervisor on needs or adjustments that they see in the work they do.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of food preparation cooking and serving in large quantities.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • Skill in the use of food preparation equipment
  • Abilty to drive a nutrition cargo van.
  • Ability to operate electronic point of sales system
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Displays the willingness to further job knowledge by in job-related training.

Physical Requirements

  • Be able to lift 10-25 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs on occasion
  • The ability to stand for a 6-8 hour shift

Experience & Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in cooking for an institutional setting or other foodservice cooking experience is preferred with the highest preference given to cooking in school nutrition.
  • Servsafe training not required but taken into account

Job Types: Full-time Part-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 40 per week
