Department Background:
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is a pioneer of purpose-driven science and Cornell Universitys second largest college. Position Summary:
The position is located within the department of Cornell Integrated Pest Management. The primary duty of this position will be to manage germinable weed seedbank assays of 50 soil samples from farms across New York. This will be conducted in a greenhouse setting that will involve exposure to sunlight and warm temperatures. The successful candidate will need to learn to identify all of the plants that emerge from the soil samples. Some plants will need to be transplanted and maintained over the course of the growing season. Excellent records will need to be maintained regarding the dates and quantities of each emerged species. The successful candidate will also need to review of the biology and ecology of each weed species to inform management recommendations to each farmer and result in educational and peer-reviewed publications.
This is a one-year term appointment that is contingent upon available work funding and performance at 39 hours/week 97.5% FTE.

Required Qualifications:
Associates degree and up to 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted NYS drivers license and be cleared to drive for university business.
Excellent written and oral communication and excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team; and have strategies to ensure tasks are completed including following up with team members as needed.
Attentive to detail be able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously handle the demands of deadlines and seamlessly move between changing priorities.
Experience working directly with people from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities.
Experience working with inclusion belonging and wellbeing programs
Experience modeling values that support inclusion belonging and wellbeing.
Ability to advocate for individuals from a broad range of backgrounds.
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students faculty staff and community members.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of plant identification crop rotation or agroecological systems.
