Job Description

Assistant Service Manager / Service Drive Manager

Reports To: Service Manager / Fixed Operations Director

Department: Service

Job Summary:

The Assistant Service Manager (ASM) / Service Drive Manager acts as the primary liaison between customers and the service department. This role is responsible for managing the service drive operations ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction efficient workflow and strong team collaboration. The ASM oversees advisors coordinates with technicians and ensures repair orders are completed promptly accurately and profitably.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers promptly and professionally in the service drive.
  • Write up repair orders document customer concerns and accurately translate them into technician work orders.
  • Provide timely updates and communication throughout the repair process.
  • Handle customer complaints or concerns to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Maintain high CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) scores.
  • Supervise daily service drive operations including vehicle intake dispatch and delivery.
  • Assign work to service advisors and ensure even distribution and workload balance.
  • Monitor technician productivity and shop capacity to maximize throughput.
  • Ensure timely write-up dispatching and follow-up of repair orders
  • Assist in training mentoring and coaching service advisors and drive staff.
  • Monitor performance metrics and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Support a positive and productive team environment.
  • Ensure repair orders are properly documented and billed.
  • Review and close repair orders for accuracy completeness and profitability.
  • Monitor warranty policy and customer-pay repairs for compliance and cost control.
  • Assist with parts and service sales goals upsells and promotional efforts.
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe service drive area.
  • Ensure compliance with all dealership policies OSHA regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Handle vehicle key control and customer property with care.

Qualifications:

  • 25 years of experience in automotive service writing or drive management.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership service department operations.
  • Experience with DMS systems (Dealertrack etc.).
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test.
