Danvers Public Schools seeks a Long-term Substitute Special Education TeacherPosition OverviewDanvers Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to lead our STRIDE program. This specialized evidence-based program is designed to meet the unique needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities. It focuses on academic achievement social skill development adaptive functioning and long-term independence within an inclusive school teacher will deliver specially designed instruction tailored to each students Individualized Education Program (IEP) collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and create a learning environment that supports academic functional and social-emotional growth.About the ProgramThe STRIDE program provides structured individualized support to students with learning social communication and adaptive behavior challenges. The program fosters student success in both special education and general education settings through direct instruction small and large group learning and community integration.Key Responsibilities
Deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals in academic social and functional life skills domains.Design and implement daily instructional activities using evidence-based curricula and strategies.Develop lesson plans incorporating flexible teaching modalities differentiated instruction and progress monitoring.Collaborate with general education staff to support student inclusion in academic classes extracurriculars and community-based experiences.Collaborate with related service providers (e.g. SLPs BCBAs OTs PTs Social Workers School Psychologists) to support students IEP goals.Utilize assistive technology visual supports and structured routines to facilitate student engagement and success.Collect and analyze student data to inform instructional adjustments and document progress toward IEP goalsLead and participate in IEP meetings team meetings and parent conferences.Foster strong consistent communication and collaboration with families to support student development at school and home.Maintain a safe inclusive and respectful classroom culture where students feel supported and encouraged.Preferred:Prior experience teaching in a substantially separate or specialized settingKnowledge of ABA principles and structured teaching techniquesFamiliarity with AAC tools social communication interventions and adaptive skill-buildingComfort with assistive technology and progress monitoring softwareThe Danvers Public School District is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education and employment.
