The Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) is recruiting for a Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Technician II (WW O & M Tech II). The WW O & M Tech II is responsible for safely operating and monitoring selected equipment involved in the treatment processing and resource reclamation of wastewater and biosolids. This role also ensures the continuity of wastewater treatment operations by performing preventive maintenance and adjustments to equipment and systems including pumps motors blowers chemical feed equipment sludge equipment and basic laboratory equipment. Additional responsibilities of this position include collecting and analyzing wastewater samples and recording data relating to the operation and maintenance of equipment and treatment processes.
Work assignments shifts and locations will vary depending on the departments needs and will be communicated to the incumbent by the supervisor/treatment management.

O&M Technician II is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities of the 5804 - O&M Technician I;
Performs all duties and responsibilities of the 5804 - O&M Technician I
Follows all safety procedures including proper LOTO and confined space procedures;
Operates and monitors equipment and processes involved in the treatment and processing of wastewater and its byproducts including solids gas service water and side streams;
Collects and records data relating to the operations and maintenance of assigned equipment and systems
Reports equipment & process data/information;
Interprets readings on metering/process control devices and test/analysis results and adjusts equipment and machinery as necessary;
Evaluates troubleshoots and adjusts wastewater treatment and solids handling processes;
Initiates remedial or repair actions to ensure system operations continuity;
Performs operator-level servicing preventive maintenance and adjustments to assigned equipment facilities and associated systems;
Assists in the installation maintenance repair and replacement of large complex equipment and associated components;
Collects and analyzes wastewater samples in field and laboratory settings reports results;
Ensures proper use care and calibration of standard laboratory equipment and reports lab supply status to Supervisors;
Performs basic housekeeping functions by cleaning and maintaining work areas buildings and grounds;
Assists in training O&M Technicians by providing leadership and training.
Prepares for and responds to hydraulic loading events and plant emergencies;
Uses intermediate/advanced operating principles of facility Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and computerized maintenance management systems;
May be required to assist in performing some duties of O&M Supervisors especially in preparation for Tech III;
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 2 (or higher) Wastewater Treatment System Operator certification AND at least 2 years of experience in the operation of a wastewater/water facility or related industry/facility with at least 1 year as an operator at a Grade 3 or 4 wastewater facility (Section R).
(Relevant experience training and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted for experience.)

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
Minimum one (1) year experience performing preventative maintenance in water/wastewater or similar process.
ADEQ Certification(s) (Collections/Water Treatment/Water Distribution).
Minimum one (1) year experience with Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or comparable system control operation software.
Minimum one (1) year experience as an O&M Technician with Pima County Wastewater Reclamation Department.
Selection Process:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates:Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record. Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at time of application or prior to completion of an initial or promotional probation period. Failure to obtain/maintain the required certification/licensures shall be grounds for termination.

Physical/Sensory Requirements: All positions require sufficient body flexibility mobility stamina and balance to allow for standing walking sitting grasping and manipulation of work objects frequent bending stooping reaching and climbing stairs and ladders. All positions require regular or occasional crawling kneeling squatting lifting/carrying objects up to fifty pounds pushing and pulling of objects up to seventy-five pounds and the ability to properly don and doff fall protection to enter and work in confined spaces. Essential to this position is corrected or sufficient vision; the ability to see read and interpret written information manuals gauges etc. including distinguishing various colors. Also essential to this position is corrected or sufficient hearing; the ability to hear and comprehend voice communications in-person over a radio and phone and to hear operating equipment
