Senior Principal Accountant (Capital & Treasury)
West Midlands
475-575 per day inside IR35
Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
12-Month Contract
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role as Senior Principal Accountant
Join a dynamic Central Finance team in a large metropolitan council taking ownership of Capital and Treasury accounting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the Councils capital programme alongside service accountants
- Ensuring compliance with governance arrangements for capital and external funding
- Providing technical advice on capital and treasury matters across service areas
- Managing the Councils Treasury function including cash flow borrowing and investments
- Producing statutory documents: Capital Strategy Treasury Management Policy Investment Strategy Minimum Revenue Policy and statutory returns
- Leading financial accounting for Capital Treasury and Leasing transactions
About the role as Senior Principal Accountant
- Qualified accountant with strong interpersonal and influencing skills (e.g. CIPFA ACCA CIMA)
- In-depth knowledge ofLocal Government Capital and Treasury Accounting regulations
- Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and maintain high professional standards
- Experience working within a large public sector finance environment
