About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Lead Lands and Conservation youll take on a dynamic role as Coordinator Lands and Conservationsupporting hands-on fieldwork and data management that directly contributes to EVRs Nature Strategy and sustainability goals. Youll help shape the future value of EVRs non-mining private lands across the scenic Elk Valley conducting site inspections leading contractor activities and enabling safe respectful recreational access. This position offers the chance to work outdoors build partnerships and drive meaningful environmental outcomes in a community that values balance between nature and livelihood.
To be successful we are looking for someone with strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills. This individual will have strong critical thinking and decision making abilities with a proven capacity for practical problem-solving. Creating and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders is vital in this role.

In this role you will:

    • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
    • Execute all private land inspections and associated Trigger Action Response Plans
    • Support the development and delivery of public use and awareness programs that promote responsible land access
    • Assist with critical risk reduction programs such as contaminated site mitigation fire prevention planning and safe access initiatives
    • Support recreational access to private lands and implementation of Motor Vehicle Prohibition closure areas
    • Manage and maintain databases related to timber harvesting land agreements and access rights
    • Provide technical direction and field leadership to contractors and consultants ensuring alignment with EVRs environmental and sustainability objectives
    • Support compliance with applicable environmental legislation and land use regulation by ensuring filed activities and data management meet regulatory and internal standards
    • Act as a liaison between internal departments Indigenous Nations regulatory bodies and community stakeholders to support land stewardship and conservation planning
    • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic private land management programs including invasive species control road rehabilitation and fire risk mitigation in alignment with EVRs Nature Strategy.
    • Lead the collection analysis and reporting of environmental data to inform land use decisions track program effectiveness and support continuous improvement
    • Provide mentorship and knowledge-sharing to junior staff and contractors fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and continuous learning

Requirements:

    • Degree or diploma in engineering or environmental science or other related subject area or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Three to five years experience in progressive ecology sciences biodiversity and cumulative effects in the natural resource sector
    • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
    • Technical knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental legislation standards and effective industry best management practices
    • Experience with environmental data management software such as GIS - ArcMap analysis and reporting
    • Registered or eligible to register with an applicable professional organization such as College of Applied Biologists BC Institute of Agrologists Forest Professionals BC or Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia is an asset
    • Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships and solve problems in dynamic field environments.
    • Project management experience training or certification that supports the implementation and alignment with the EVR Project Development Framework will be considered a strong asset
$94000 - $116000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
