DESCRIPTION
The Crew Leader II in the Street Department is responsible for leading a team of workers engaged in street maintenance repair and construction activities. This position plays a critical role in coordinating crew assignments ensuring work quality and efficiency and promoting a culture of safety and teamwork within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience (3 years) in street maintenance construction or a related field is required with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience preferred or any combination of training and experience leading to the described level of knowledge and skills.
- A Valid Drivers License Class C is required at the time of placement and a clean driving record.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of street maintenance techniques equipment and materials used in construction and repair activities.
- Skill in interpersonal communication with the ability to interact professionally with crew members supervisors contractors and members of the public
- Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of workers fostering a culture of safety productivity and teamwork.
- Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions and environments.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Supervise and direct a crew of workers engaged in street maintenance repair and construction tasks providing guidance instruction and support as needed to ensure work quality and efficiency.
- Plan and organize daily work assignments schedules and priorities for crew members taking into account project requirements resource availability and deadlines.
- Coordinate with departmental supervisors managers and other staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration across crews and divisions.
- Monitor work progress and productivity identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Train new crew members on proper work methods safety procedures and equipment operation ensuring compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
- Perform hands-on work alongside crew members as needed to complete assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for crew members and the public including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to traffic control measures.
- Maintain accurate records documentation and reporting related to crew activities including work hours materials usage equipment maintenance and project progress.
- Provide input and feedback to departmental supervisors on crew performance training needs equipment requirements and other relevant issues.
- Respond to all types of weather-related and ROW emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
