Performs a variety of routine tasks to support the delivery of safe effective cost-efficient patient care as delegated by the RN. They provide assistance in transporting transferring and lifting. They perform cleaning Functions in the patient care unit as delegated and perform selected diagnostic tests.
Essential Functions
Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
Monitors and records vital signs.
Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs.
Accurately measures records and reports intake and output.
Obtains and records daily weight.
Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter.
Reports changes in patients status promptly to RN.
Performs as a patient care companion when needed.
Assists in the admission transfer and discharge process.
Performs unit housekeeping needs.
Acts as a runner/transporter.
Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated reporting variances to appropriate personnel.
Updates assigned bed status.
Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms call lights telephones and alerting the correct person.
Keeps the patient environment clean performs comfort rounds keeps hallways clear of obstruction no food or drink at the workstation reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately and adheres to patient safety precautions.
Communicates with the patients family physicians and unit personnel and peers in an accurate courteous and professional manner.

HS Diploma/GED Required.
BLS Required.
Good written/oral communication skills required.
