Carolina Outreach is seeking a Forensic Community Support Team Peer Support Specialist to provide support to adults involved in the criminal justice system who are living with mental health and substance use challenges. Drawing on personal experience in recovery the Peer Support Specialist engages clients in services builds trust and encourages participation in the treatment process.

Build Your Purpose.

As a Forensic CST Peer Support Professional you will work closely with the Forensic CST team to assist clients in developing wellness strategies practicing self-advocacy navigating community resources and strengthening natural supports. Services are delivered in the community and are guided by the principles of recovery empowerment and person-centered care in alignment with the Forensic CST model.

Position Highlights:

  • Use lived experience to build trusting relationships and model hope and recovery
  • Support client engagement through outreach wellness planning and daily living skill development
  • Assist clients in navigating behavioral health legal and social service systems
  • Promote housing stability community integration and crisis support as needed
  • Collaborate with the team and maintain accurate documentation in line with NC Peer Support Certification requirements

Location:Durham NC

Compensation:This position is compensated using a piece rate model where pay is based on the Relative Value Units (RVUs) assigned to each billable service. Each service is assigned a specific RVU value and your total compensation is determined by the number and type of services you deliver.

Estimated Annual Income Range for a PSS: $37900 to $47900

The range above is an estimate based on productivity. Under this compensation model there is unlimited earning potential!

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Must be certified as a Peer Support Specialist in the state of North Carolina.
  • Experience:
    • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery
    • Prior justice system involvement is preferred.
    • Experience with using an electronic health record
