General Description and Purpose
The Library Clerk is responsible to the Director of Learning Resources.
Primary Functions/Responsibilities
- Maintain an orderly and inviting atmosphere.
- Daily operation of the Library.
- Assist with overdue list and execute overdue notices as needed.
- Prepare bibliographies inter-library loan requests etc. as assigned.
- Assist with re-shelving collection materials.
- Assist and instruct in the use of electronic indexes Kansas State Library database computer databases and the internet in their search for information in and beyond our holdings.
- Assist faculty and library patrons with educational technology equipment.
- Assist with inventory.
- Maintain the collection stacks.
- Assist the director in the processing of new books.
- Operates library online catalog system in routine duties.
- Assist with educational technology as needed.
- Assist with training / coordinating Work-Study student Library Assistants
- Maintain data collection logs as requested
Coordination and Accountability Tasks
Consult with Learning Resource Center / Library Director daily.
Supervises the Following Staff
Assist with the supervision of work study students.
Required Knowledge Skills Abilities and other Characteristics
- Ability to build and ensure a positive mature relationship with students.
- Ability to ensure the atmosphere in the LRC/Library is always conducive to student academic activities.
- Ability to use computers; Word Excel and the internet.
- Ability to demonstrate the usage of common computer techniques to students and community patrons.
- Ability to demonstrate effective usage of common software operation techniques to students and community patrons.
- Ability to perform clerical tasks.
- Ability to do detailed work accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to work well with patrons.
- Positive outgoing personality.
- Initiates positive library relations with students.
- Able to flex hours to accommodate the operational needs of the Library.
Experience
At least one year of previous clerical experience required.
Education
- High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.

Library environment. Requires some light lifting. Weight limit 25 lbs.
