Job Summary
Teaching Assistants help a faculty member with instructional responsibilities which may include: lab prep organization clean-up and working with enrolled students during the lab session in Swindells Hall Romanaggi Hall. This position is for the laboratory course BIO278: Intro to Evolution and Ecology Lab which are coordinated by Dr. Katie OReilly in the Fall of 2025 with the possibility of continued employment for these courses in Spring 2026. Working as a teaching assistant for either of these courses requires successful completion of that course with a final grade of at least A- or permission of the instructor. Applicants must be available for at least one of the following sections: BIO278: Intro to Evolution & Ecology Lab: W 1230:1530 OReilly R 1255:1555 OReilly F 1230:1530 OReilly In a brief cover letter please describe your 1) suitability for the position 2) when you took BIO277 and/or BIO278 and your lab instructor for the relevant course(s) 3) your availability for specific lab sections and 4) whether you are eligible for Federal Work Study ( FWS ) as part of your financial aid package. You will also be asked to submit a current resume as part of your application. Positions for BIO278 will be asked to drive a 4-7 person van for field trips and must complete driving safety via Campus Safety.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have taken BIO 207/ BIO 277 and BIO208/278 and received a grade of A- or better in the relevant lab course. Must have a thorough understanding of the labs and their conceptual background Cover letter must list the semester and faculty member(s) from whom the student took Bio 207 and BIO 277 and have their endorsement as references. Must have a strong desire to work with students and assist in their learning. Must be approachable and friendly with peers and committed to diversity and the inclusion of every student in the lab. Must be respectful punctual and dependable. Must have valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications
Students with Federal Work Study in Financial Aid Package preferred. Students with Green Dot Certification preferred.
