QUALIFICATIONS:Associates or Bachelors degree preferred Prior experience working with students with disabilitiesTraining or coursework in special education preferredSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of Student Support Services may find appropriate and TO: Director of Student Support ServicesJOB GOAL: To work closely with students with disabilities in an effort to provide them with instructional and/or social emotional support as needed for effective progress while assisting the special and general education staff in implementing IEP goals. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Under the direction and supervision of licensed educators who design instruction.)Provide academic support and direct instruction to students in a small group and classroom setting to meet IEP goals/objectives. Assist teachers with the implementation of appropriate curriculum lessons alternate assessments and modifications for children with special supervision of the classrooms during times in which the special educator is required to be elsewhere in the positive behavior management techniques and/or individual behavior support plans during individual small group instruction and/or within the general education planning meetings in-service workshops/trainings team meetings and parent-teacher conferences when requested by the Program curriculum materials to meet individual student needs and IEP goals/ with teachers special educators and therapists around designated students on a regular basis to discuss student progress and to support and carry over classroom and therapy goals and knowledge and understanding of current IEPs of assigned student/s and collect data as students with disabilities outside of regular class times including but not limited to the transition from and to transportation lunch recess field trips assemblies emergency drills and hallway students with necessary supports while fostering and facilitating increasing assigned duties in another classroom if requested by the Director of Student Support a high level of confidentiality and professionalism expected of the teaching other related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support REQUIREMENTS:This position may require lifting positioning and transitioning students as needed according to caseload/classroom assignment. Demands for lifting may be up to 50 pounds.
