Abilene Public Schools (USD #435) Abilene KS is currently seeking a PreK Classroom Paraprofessional/Aide.
Required Qualifications

Purpose:The Teacher Aideassists the Instructor in creating a positive
learning environment to facilitate the personal social and
intellectual development of students. To accomplish these tasks
the Teacher Aideworks closely with the staff and administration to support students.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to assist in facilitating the personal social and intellectual development of students.
- Ability to assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respond tothe individual educational needs of students.
- Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of
the school district and community .
- Ability to be fexible as schedules and daily activities may change.
6. Ability to operate all classroom equipment appropriately as required.
- Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the District.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Requires stooping bending kneeling turning and reaching.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.
General Responsibilities:
- Ability to prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
- Ability to work with small groups of students to practice skillsintroduced by the teacher.
- Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.
- Ability to provide support for students according to the IEP (Individualized Educational Plan).
- Ability to complete necessary training as related to the paraprofessional responsibilities.
- Ability to perform clerical duties as required.
- Ability to set up audiovisual equipment.
- Ability to assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties such asserving snack and assisting students with toileting and clothing routines.
- Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
- Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative courteous and timely manner.
- Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
- Ability to implement and follow all District health and safety policies including
all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the
Principal or Teacher.
