PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
The Creative Team seeks to advance and support that vision by inspiring our congregation and guests to take their next steps in their faith at HP Pres and informing them how to do so.
The Production Engineer seeks to support the Creative Team and the vision of Highland Park Presbyterian Church by being a leader in production technology collaborating with the Production Director for how to best use technology in the future to advance the mission of the church and ensuring that existing technology is working well today.
DESIRED RESULTS/IMPACT OF THIS POSITION
- Every production experience at HP Presespecially on Sundaysis seamless high-quality and distraction-free allowing guests to encounter Jesus and take meaningful next steps in their faith. Production systems across HP Pres are designed and maintained to perform reliably and consistently.
- The Production Engineer actively anticipates and prevents technical issues ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruptions.
- Demonstrates a forward-thinking approach by staying current on production trends and making strategic recommendations that align with the churchs mission and growth.
- Oversees the successful implementation of production technology projectswhether executed in-house or with contractorswith thorough documentation for future reference.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with the Creative Director Production Director and IT Director to ensure all production systems function effectively and integrate seamlessly with other church technologies.
- Serves as a systems engineer with deep technical expertise in Ross Video Dante AV Ultrix A/V networking CLA consoles GrandMA lighting ProPresenter live and post-production audio/video workflows.
- Designs engineers and documents new systems to meet evolving ministry needs across campus venues.
- Prepares and tests systems throughout the week to ensure readiness for Sunday worship and other key events across spaces like the Sanctuary Elliott Hall Wynne Chapel and classrooms.
- Provides real-time technical support during worship services resolving issues quickly to ensure a distraction-free experience.
- Maintains relationships with contractors for specialized repairs or installations as needed.
- Brings a collaborative grace-filled spirit to team and staff interactions contributing to a healthy culture that reflects HP Pres values.
- Supports live worship and ministry events as needed by stepping into hands-on production roles to ensure excellence when needed.
- Engages with team communication platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams GeekBot) attends required meetings and events and fulfills additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience: 5 years of experience with production systems audio video lighting and networking
- Knowledge and Skills: use of ProPresenter Planning Center Microsoft Teams Apple products
- Abilities: able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for an hour
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent lifting under 50 lbs.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
