QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED some college preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated training experience preferred
- Possess and maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred
- Possess an acceptable driving record as measured by the School Bus Drivers Record Evaluation Criteria
- Ability to give and receive both written and verbal instructions effectively and professionally
- Possess interpersonal skills necessary to successfully communicate with department/district administration department employees job candidates DPS personnel and community members
- Ability to work under pressure adhere to deadlines and handle frequent interruptions
- Ability to work long and prolonged hours as necessary including nights and weekends as required
- Proficient skills in operating a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read and implement documents including policies guidelines and procedures
- Ability to communicate and interact in a professional manner with parents campus personnel and department personnel to provide safe and efficient student transportation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Annual Contract 250 days
SALARY:
$60208 (BA-3)
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the daily operations of the department training division in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Human Resources.
- Manage and lead full-time driver trainer and charter drivers with a training assignment.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department training team including the supervision of full-time and part-time trainers.
- Convey district state and federal policies procedures and laws governing the transportation of students including those with disabilities.
- Develop and update training program materials including but not limited to bus driver safety handbooks and forms.
- Provide training and re-training for department employees as necessary and appropriate.
- Provide input/support on department guidelines procedures and best practices.
- Coordinate schedule and teach state required bus driver safety certification and re-certification training.
- Determine the release and redirection of trainees in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Human Resources.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of the departments in-service and other safety or professional development opportunities.
- Regular communication with DPS regarding licensing procedure.
- Maintain records and files and prepare reports relative to training bus drivers including state required training certificates collision review board committee reports and annual training mileage reports.
- Develop and maintain personnel database in conjunction with Transportation Human Resources including personnel records driver compliance and training assignments (CPI CPR KPIs and annual in-service)
- Award document and input development hours pertaining to transportation for district employees.
- Maintain all vehicle collision/incident information and history.
- Gather and interpret necessary data for the annual Bus Accident Reporting Survey.
- Lead the department annual Roadeo and support the regional Roadeo event as required.
- Lead the training of CPR and First Aid for all transportation employees.
- Prepare letters memos and/or requested reports.
- Serve as the contact with vendors pertaining to training software and systems.
- Support District and Department initiatives and events.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
