Job Description
Under the direction of the Chief of Public Safety the Sergeant assists with the overall supervision of the department. Provides a safe and secure environment for the University Community and all of its members. Takes a lead role in responding to major incidents on campus affecting the interests of the University or the department. Provides a variety of services which enhance the quality of life on campus maintain satisfactory working relationships with peers supervisors students faculty staff local police and the general public.
Responsibilities:
- Enforces State Local and University rules and regulations.
- Assists with the overall supervision of the department.
- Takes a lead role in responding to major incident reports.
- Participates in the professional development of the University and the department.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school education or equivalency.
- Minimum of five years prior experience in law enforcement required or three years and an associate degree in criminal justice.
- Possess an Ohio Police Commission or the ability to obtain certification within three months of hire.
- Valid Ohio motor vehicle operators license. Current drivers license record must not reflect six points or more.
- Excellent professional communication skills (verbal and written).
- This position may expect irregular working hours and days off including weekends and holidays.
