This is a Fixed term post for initially a 12 month duration covering a secondment in the team.

Healthy Cornwall is a small team of dedicated professionals who provide a service with a smile to our customers whilst also striving to make a big difference for our population here in Cornwall. The Healthy Cornwall smoking cessation service achieves positive outcomes for hundreds of people every year so why not apply to become part of our successful team!

The Role:

We are looking to recruit a virtual smoking cessation support advisor to assist our increasingly busy service to help people quit smoking. This role will require you to work remotely (from home or one of our council offices) offering clients from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly support over the phone and virtually (including email text video calls and social media) providing clients with the tools they need to achieve a successful quit attempt.

This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This vacancy is for a 30 hours a week (0.8 FTE equivalent).

What youll need to succeed:

We are looking for a dynamic individual committed to improving the wellbeing of the residents of Cornwall who can demonstrate:

  • An ability to motivate and inspire behaviour change in individuals who may initially be resistant to change in order to facilitate health improvement.
  • An ability to successfully deliver stop smoking interventions to individuals and advise on follow up support.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work both individually and as part of a team towards shared objectives.
  • Able to work flexibly across the week including a commitment to working regular evenings and occasional weekends.
  • An ability to manage busy caseloads effectively
  • An ability to use evidence-based practice with a compassionate approach to tobacco dependency.
  • An ability to effectively collect and document information appropriately within a database.
