About the Role
The Senior Garment Technician plays a critical role in the Product team providing deep technical expertise to ensure all garments meet CSBs high standards of functionality fit and brand integrity. This role is responsible for translating the designers creative direction into commercially viable production-ready garments owning the technical development process from initial prototype through to final approved samples.
Reporting to the Head of Product the Garment Technician will collaborate closely with both internal stakeholders (including Design Production and the wider Product team) and external partners (such as key suppliers and manufacturers) to ensure all timelines quality benchmarks and commercial expectations are met. A key aspect of the role also includes working directly with CSBs Founder helping bring her creative vision to life with precision and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and develop initial patterns from tech packs and/or original samples.
- Create detailed spec sheets with comments for fitting samples.
- Create relevant spec library and base size specs.
- Create and update technical specifications for factories to follow.
- Measure fit and document all sample comments and changes to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Refine modify improve and update specifications measurements & constructions information to approve fit.
- Implement and maintain weekly (or as required) fit sessions and relevant processes associated with fit sessions.
- Identify and alert design and production teams of potential fit/quality issues making recommendations to ensure brand integrity is maintained.
- Follow manage and meet required design timelines as per the critical path.
- Attend seasonal Design Handover meetings ensure information is adequately documented to ensure all initial specs are accurate and portray requirements of the designer and the standard fit requirements
- Complete alterations as required.
- Implement extended sizing specs where relevant with a view to create products to attract a new consumer.
- Production supply chain and supplier relationship management.
- Maintain and foster good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including key suppliers.
About You
- Training in Fashion and Garment Construction
- Bachelors Degree in Arts/Design or similar
- Minimum 5 years experience in a garment technician role or similar.
- Demonstrated experience dealing with offshore manufacturing suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of pattern making garment construction and garment grading.
- Excellent understanding of garment specifications product development and production process.
- Experienced with use of Photoshop Illustrator and CAD.
- Demonstrated work in active wear preferred.
- Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills to ensure business timelines are met.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with effective rapport building skills with a varied audience
- High level of proficiency in digital and manual pattern making.
- Outstanding attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work deadlines and work independently.
- Positive and professional demeanour.
