Job Description

Passionate about Quality and Safety Westhaven is seeking a Quality Officer to shape Westhavens high-quality disability support services.

An exciting opportunity exists to join our governance team. The Quality Officer is responsible for fostering an organisational culture that delivers high-quality and safe services to our participants. Reporting to the Audit & Risk Manager youll assist in implementing and ensuring compliance with essential quality and safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting Quality and Compliance: Assist in implementing our quality management systems records and internal audits to ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements. This includes helping manage quality improvement plans risk registers and document control.

  • Driving Frontline Quality: Proactively engage with teams across various locations to conduct frontline quality and risk audits collecting and analysing crucial data.

  • WHS Oversight: Oversee and manage all aspects of Work Health and Safety (WHS) notifications incidents and near misses assisting with investigations under the guidance of the Audit & Risk Manager.

  • Administrative Support: Provide essential administrative support for quality assurance audit monitoring and preparation for external audits and accreditations.


To be at the forefront of this opportunity you will have:

  • A basic understanding of disability support needs familiarity with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and a basic grasp of Human Rights.

  • Knowledge of Office Children Guardian compliance child safe standards and Australian Work Health Safety Legislation.

  • Familiarity with risk management fundamentals including hazard identification risk assessment and documentation.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with developing skills in building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.

  • A willingness to engage in challenging discussions and inspire confidence alongside basic critical thinking problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • A commitment to maintaining a high degree of integrity and a strong customer focus with a willingness to learn basic numerical proficiency and data analysis.


Westhaven regards the following as highly desirable:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.

  • Prior experience in healthcare community or non-profit organisations is desirable.

  • Previous experience in a WHS-related role


Essential requirements of the role:

  • A current NSW Drivers licence

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC)
