Job Overview/Summary:
The Bilingual Dental Assistant (DA) plays a key role in supporting both the clinical and administrative aspects of dental care delivery. This non-exempt position involves assisting dental providers with patient care ensuring a smooth workflow and delivering information to patients to enhance their understanding and use of dental services. The ideal candidate must meet all the minimum qualifications and be fluent in both English and Spanish.
Responsibilities:
Take and record vital signs and medical histories
Prepare patients for examinations
Ensure rooms are stocked and prepared for doctors arrival
Take and develop radiographs (X-rays)
Mix prepare and/or provide all necessary materials and instruments
Provide proper instrument set-up before appointments
Assist provider during procedures
Update and maintain accurate patient dental records in the electronic dental record (EDR)
Maintain sterilization and tray set-up
Ensure compliance with OSHA HIPAA and PPE regulations
Perform other duties as assigned
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required
Primary Skills:
Ability to sit stand and walk for extended periods
Proficient in reading and understanding English
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Excellent organizational critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Able to work with multiple changing priorities
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse individuals
Strong understanding of confidentiality protocols
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
Experience in a fast-paced dental or clinical environment
Familiarity with electronic dental records (EDR) systems
Knowledge of dental software platforms
Qualifications:
Education: One academic year or longer in an ADA-accredited dental program
Licensure: Coronal polishing radiographic certification nitrous oxide sedation (preferred)
Certifications: BLS OSHA HIPAA
Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
