Job Description
Job Title: Director of Perioperative Services
Location: Athena Medtech
Employment Type: Full-Time
On-Call Requirement: Must reside within a 30-minute radius while on call
Athena Medtech is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Perioperative Services to lead and advance our surgical services operations. This key leadership role oversees all aspects of the perioperative continuum-including the Operating Room (OR) Same Day Surgery (SDS) Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Endoscopy Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) and Sterile Processing. The ideal candidate will bring a strong clinical background proven operational leadership and strategic vision to ensure the delivery of safe efficient and high-quality surgical care.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership

Oversee perioperative operations to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g. DOH JCAHO AORN ASPAN) and internal quality standards.

Promote a culture of safety service excellence and evidence-based practice across surgical services.
Strategic Planning
-
Develop and execute strategic initiatives to enhance patient outcomes operational efficiency and service line growth.

Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain clinical excellence and market competitiveness.
Collaboration & Integration

Partner with surgeons clinical staff and administrators to streamline workflows and drive multidisciplinary coordination.

Serve as a liaison between surgical services and senior leadership ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
Financial Management

Direct budget planning staffing and resource allocation for the perioperative department.

Manage cost-control initiatives while maintaining high clinical standards and regulatory compliance.
Program Development

Lead quality improvement initiatives and innovation efforts within perioperative services.

Leverage data and analytics to identify performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.
Compliance & Representation

Represent perioperative services on interdisciplinary and executive-level committees.

Education
-
Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) required
-
Masters degree in Nursing Healthcare Administration Business or related field required
Licensure & Certification
-
Active RN license required
-
CNOR certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in perioperative services
-
At least 2 years of experience in healthcare administration with increasing responsibility

Direct RN experience in scrubbing and circulating preferred

Must be available within a 30-minute radius while on-call

Proven expertise in budgeting staffing and financial management
Technical & Interpersonal Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Excellent communication analytical and organizational skills
