Position Summary: The Cutting Assembly Finishing Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the finishing and assembly teams. This role combines hands-on work with coordination quality assurance training and workflow management. The lead ensures that all finishing and assembly operations are completed efficiently safely and to exact specifications while supporting team development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Coordination - Serve as the primary point of contact for team members in Finishing Cutting and Assembly.
- Assign tasks monitor progress and adjust resources to meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Coordinate workflow between finishing and assembly departments to maintain smooth transitions and on-time delivery.
Technical Oversight - Provide hands-on support in grinding sanding deburring polishing and assembly when needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment materials or processes in real-time.
- Ensure proper use and care of finishing and assembly tools equipment and materials.
Quality Assurance - Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify that components meet all specifications and quality requirements.
- Support the quality team in root cause analysis and corrective actions related to finishing or assembly defects.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections rework and production metrics.
Training & Development - Train new employees and cross-train current staff in finishing and assembly procedures.
- Reinforce best practices for tool usage safety protocols blueprint reading and quality checks.
- Mentor team members to improve skills efficiency and product knowledge.
Safety & Compliance - Promote and enforce strict adherence to all safety policies and PPE requirements.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards within the work area.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in all finishing and assembly zones.
Process Improvement - Collaborate with engineering quality and production teams to recommend and implement process improvements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste cycle time and errors while maintaining high standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement meetings and initiatives (e.g. Kaizen 5S Lean practices).
Qualifications: - 3 5 years of experience in metal finishing mechanical assembly or related manufacturing role.
- Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings GD&T and finishing/assembly techniques.
- Skilled in the use of measuring tools (calipers micrometers gauges).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong problem-solving communication and organizational skills.
