Job Description

Lewis Central Community School District is looking for 2 High School AssistantMusic Directors for the2025-26 marching band season. Desired applicants will have experience in either Brass or Visual with a marching band.

The typical season or commitment period for this position runs approximately August-November though some time may be required before or after that window for planning student development or program support.

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of theActivitiesDirector and Instrumental Director(s) this position helps lead mentor and support students involved in extracurricular programming fostering both individual growth and team or ensemble success.

Qualifications:

  • Experience withmarching band and specifically either brass or visualat the middle or high school level is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of techniques practices or strategies relevant to the specific activity

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to student development and positive youth engagement

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues students and families

  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and district policies

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of practices rehearsals or meetings that support student learning and participation
  • Support student participants in building skills confidence and a sense of belonging
  • Promote a positive and inclusive culture that encourages collaboration responsibility and respect
  • Maintain effective communication with students families and school staff
  • Attend events performances competitions or exhibitions as required
  • Support the overall mission and goals of the program and the district
  • Uphold the standards and expectations set forth by the school district and any relevant governing bodies (e.g. IHSAA IGHSAU IHSSA)

Travel Requirements:

This position may require travel to events competitions or performances. In some cases the individual may be asked to transport students in a school vehicle.
