Job Title

Plant WF Dyeing Line Lead Shift 6

Position Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Assist the Supervisor in the daily operation of the shift with an emphasis on training and quality improvement. Maintain a working knowledge of all print line jobs as may be to relieve replace or assist operating personnel for scheduled breaks lunch periods absences or unscheduled downtime.

I. Essential Duties:

  • Ensure all jobs on the line are performed correctly. This includes but is not limited to sew-on Chromo Jet Canvas Printer steamers KFA dryer inspection and roll-up equipment and lift truck duties

  • Inspect printed rolls perform quality checks and maintain required reports and perform required computer data entry/close-outs

  • Assist with on-the-job training with all new line employees

  • Provide directions/instructions/guidance/ to all line personnel

  • Assist with shade matching on carpet by visual inspection

  • Assist with dye adjustment decisions when needed

  • Provide the printer operator with information concerning upcoming runs and strikes.

  • In order assign runs and strikes to be dyed.

  • When appropriate determine the length of leader material needed between each run or strikes.

  • Keep a copy of the schedule order in the office for dyeing production verification.

  • Assist in monitoring operations to ensure a quality product is being produced

  • Fill in for supervisor when needed however disciplinary action will be handled by department manager

  • Assist in keeping work areas in a clean orderly manner

II. Non-Essential Duites:

  • Perform weekend cleanup and startup functions.

  • Housekeeping

  • Report safety and quality risks and incidents immediately.

  • Must be knowledgeable and up to date on job procedures and safety requirements.

III. Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to reach handle stand walk speak hear look at a computer screen and look at reports

  • Occasionally required to sit stoop kneel crouch crawl climb and balance

  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs occasionally

  • Must be able to climb steps occasionally

  • Must be able to go inside dryer main steamer post steamer for cleanups machine problems or changeovers as necessary

  • Close vision is

  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts either day or night weekdays or weekends as scheduled

  • Must be able to work in temperatures that range from 50 degrees to 100 degrees.

  • Must be able to climb ladders use air/water hoses pick up garbage bags work in wet and dusty environment and work in confined spaces.

IV. Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to operate a computer

  • Must be able to pass the Munsell Color Test

  • Analytical and problem solving abilities

  • Basic reading and math skills

  • Leadership abilities for motivating employees

  • Must be able handle stress and stay focused

  • Manual dexterity

  • Communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions

  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in situations that may arise on the dye line.

  • Work in normal industrial environment with inherent background noise dirt humidity and temperature variations

  • Must be able to perform any job on the dye range

  • The employee works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places

  • The employee routinely handles dyes and chemicals

V. Training Requirements:

  • Computer training

  • Must complete all OSHA SAFE and Plant Specific Safety Training.

  • Must pass all job specific training tasks and tests.

  • Attend and pass additional training classes as needed.

  • Must complete all Ethics modules assigned by Corporate.

  • Must understand the operation of the Tufting and Finishing departments and how these processes relate to carpet manufacturing.

VI. Tools Equipment & Material Requirements:

  • Plant WF approved safety glasses and hearing protection

  • Any other PPE listed on JHA

  • Utility knife Trim Knives Cross cut knife

  • Computer and scanner

  • J-box Controls

  • Pallet truck and/or Drum hand truck

  • Lift Truck and/or Scissor Lift

  • Sewing Machine

  • Chromojet & Canvas controls

  • Scissors

  • Dryer controls

  • Video cameras

  • Radio

  • Cleaning equipment

  • Custom tools

  • PH meter

VII. Safety & Security Requirements:

  • This job has the responsibility and authority to report to management any quality and safety problems and potential problems that are encountered while performing the job

  • This position has the responsibility of the quality and safety of the employees in his/her department

  • Abide by and enforce plant safety rules and regulations.

  • Know evacuation routes locations of storm shelters and gathering places.

  • Must comply with all required OSHA SAFE and Plant specific safety rules and regulations.

  • Certifications / Licenses:

  • Must hold a valid fork lift license
