Job Description

Business Human Resources (BHR) serves as a trusted partner to the business helping to shape our culture supporting our business strategies and delivering the talent and capabilities necessary to make a remarkable impact on AbbVie and patients around the world.

The Director Business HR role leverages best-in-class HR practices to continuously create deliver and support programs that establish AbbVie as an employer of choice while empowering all employees at all levels of the organization.

This role provides HR leadership to the Operations function within our Worcester MA USA manufacturing site a key site for R&D and manufacturing activities. The Director BHR will have a team of business HR partners reporting to him/her.

This position follows AbbVies hybrid model of 3 days/week onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of HR Strategies to meet both short-term and long-term organizational and business needs.
  • Coach consult and influence site business leaders regarding leadership development succession planning and talent management. Engage and influence business leaders through strong relationship-building skills and strategic insights.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract develop and retain talent that meets current and future business needs. This includes identifying and cultivating new capabilities required for future success. Lead talent development and succession planning efforts.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of all HR programs and services and be responsible for HR results in the business including client satisfaction HR effectiveness and associated financial results.
  • Establish build and maintain strong relationships with key HR partners from all Centers of Excellence and Service Centers to ensure HR elements are successfully coordinated to meet site business needs; include relationship management leadership HR roles & responsibilities and service delivery commitments.
  • Provides consultation on and leads organization design and effectiveness / structure issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Drive people manager development to create clarity and consistency of expectations accountability and enriched manager/employee experiences. Partner with people leaders to shape a culture of high employee engagement high performance diversity and inclusion.
  • Identify plan and execute change management strategies and effective communication strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Champion AbbVie Ways We Work with Business by modeling educating and coaching on these behaviors.
  • Identify trends and new approaches to business processes that should be both incremental and ahead of the curve.
  • Develop proposals and recommendations to resolve strategically important issues with strategic approach to problem-solving on HR issues (enterprise mindset connecting the dots thinking ahead)
  • Leads large scale strategic projects and initiative with multi-year impact capable of creating transformational change in a matrix environment
  • Build develop deploy and coach a team of HR professionals

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree
  • 12 years of relevant HR experience
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting the business; strong business acumen
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in a complex and demanding environment
  • Project management or business experience
  • Experience in organizational development design and effectiveness
  • Experience supporting a global business and partnering with internationally-based business leaders and HR colleagues
  • Strategic thinking with proven experience in leading multiple programs and initiatives with the ability to prioritize
  • Significant breadth of understanding of functional/ CoE HR roles and responsibilities and their impact on the business
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to senior management. Ability to engage employees at all levels
  • Supervisory leadership experience

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation holidays sick) medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. 

  • This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs
