Job Description

Job Summary:

As the Senior Associate Athletics Director the incumbent will Assist the Director of Athletics in the overall management supervision and leadership of the CSUSB Athletics Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior leader to support the development and execution of the departments strategic plan priorities and goals.
  • Assist the Director of Athletics with departmental management strategic planning policy development resource allocation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with campus and community partners to oversee assigned functions and strengthen internal and external relationships.
  • Represent the University at CCAA NCAA and institutional meetings.
  • Lead special projects and manage operations for conference and national tournaments including game day logistics facilities and ticketing.
  • Oversee NCAA compliance program and supervise Compliance Coordinator.
  • Manage academic support and life skills programming; supervise Athletics Academic Advisor.
  • Lead execution of 100 athletic events including CCAA and NCAA tournaments.
  • Coordinate all practice and competition dates in EMS; resolve scheduling conflicts; develop emergency action plans for each venue.
  • Serve as primary contact for officials visiting teams custodial staff Yotie Eats facilities grounds CES security UPD vendors and event services.
  • Manage mobile ticketing operations for soccer basketball volleyball and baseball.
  • Oversee maintenance and capital projects for all Athletics venues and support spaces including arenas fields training and office areas.
  • Oversee inventory storage laundry and maintenance of team and departmental gear.
  • Lead planning and execution of key events such as Homecoming Coyote Classic Blue & Black Celebration Hall of Fame and student-athlete events.
  • Serve as sport administrator for assigned athletic programs to support overall program and departmental goals.
  • Evaluate coaching staff performance and provide guidance to ensure program success.
  • Manage team operating budgets and ensure alignment with departmental priorities.
  • Ensure student-athletes receive necessary academic and athletic resources to support success.
  • Develop implement and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a primary internal contact for Title IX and Student Conduct.
  • Eligible for Senior Woman Administrator designation and accompanying responsibilities.
  • Other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in the oversight of NCAA athletic Compliance
  • Management experience within college athletics
  • Collegiate student services background and in-depth knowledge
  • A bachelors degree from an accredited university is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Works independently with minimal supervision; develops solutions and is evaluated on judgment and effectiveness in meeting goals
  • Develops interprets and implements policies; may contribute to department division or campus-wide policy decisions
  • Accountable for achieving key program or departmental objectives; errors may cause delays resource loss or reputational impact
  • Oversees exempt and non-exempt staff and/or subordinate managers; defines organizational structure to meet goals
  • Manages overall program or department operations ensuring budget and performance targets are met
  • Expert knowledge of NCAA and NCAA Clearinghouse policies; ensures eligibility compliance for all student-athletes
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive matters with discretion
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and fair dispute mediation
  • Interprets technical procedures and CSU/university policies accurately
  • Communicates NCAA rules effectively across all areas including recruiting eligibility awards and practice regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • A masters degree from an accredited university is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $7500 $10416.67 per month

The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical dental and vision plans membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) sick and vacation time and 15 paid holidays a year. Position Information:

Work status: Full-time/Exempt/At-will Employment

Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am 5:00 pm) some evenings/weekends.

Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm) some evenings/weekends.

This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

This position is a designated position in the California State Universitys Conflict of Interest Code. The scope of responsibilities for this position includes making or participating in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore the individual holding this position is required to file an initial Conflict of Interest: Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within thirty (30 days) from the date of hire and on an annual basis. In addition the individual holding this position must complete the required conflict of interest training within thirty (30) days of their appointment and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment subject to the Fair Political Practices Commission regulations.

First considerations will be given to candidates who apply by Tuesday July 29 2025 and will continue until the position is filled; however the position may close when an adequate number of qualified applications are received.

As of January 1 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California.

Conditions of Employment

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Drivers License Check

Possession of a valid Drivers License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid drivers license and reflects driving record.

Mandated Reporter

The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
