This is a Full-Time 40 Hours Weekly position with the SD Developmental Center. For more information on the SD Developmental Center please visit .
Performs skilled building maintenance tasks in the areas of electrical plumbing finish carpentry refrigeration heating ventilation air conditioning painting locksmith and preventive maintenance to provide for the continued safe and efficient operation of the facility and associated areas.
Performs preventative maintenance inspection on parts equipment and structures.
Performs predictive and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure the continued operation of heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
Repairs or replaces plumbing lines and fixtures in buildings or facilities.
Installs new or replaces damaged fixtures in buildings.
Builds or remodels the interior and exterior of buildings to meet the required maintenance needs of the facility and complete work orders.
Completes required reports and records to provide or verify costs associated with the completion of tasks and to account for activities.
Assist with snow removal by shovel or heavy equipment.
Completes general maintenance duties.
Performs other work as assigned.
Occasional shift change to help with coverage of boiler equipment.
Day Shift Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid drivers license.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Knowledge of:
the methods and practices of general building or facility maintenance;
construction trades;
tools and equipment associated with the tasks of the position;
Ability to:
communicate information clearly and concisely;
follow instructions;
deal tactfully with others;
complete delegated tasks in a timely manner;
operate required tools and equipment;
lift 50 pounds or more;
work from ladders scaffolding or in confined areas.
This position is eligible for Veterans Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Successful applicant(s) will undergo an abuse and neglect screening.
