Jabil is seeking to hire an experiencedLitigation Attorneyto be based in our global headquarters in St. Petersburg key member ofJabilsGlobalLitigation Legal teamthis vital role as Assistant General Counsel will reportto the VP Deputy General Counsel - Chief Global Litigation Counsel and work in close collaboration with all Jabil legalfunctions globalbusiness teams and outside Global Litigation team handles all of Jabils litigation and claims matters spanning a number of subject areas including antitrust breach of contract commercial disputes securities class actions labor and employment government and healthcare program is an in-person position at Jabils St. Petersburg Headquarters.
Primary Accountabilities:
Under the direction of the VP/DGC Global Litigation functions of this position include:
Primary responsibility for developing and implementing effective resolution strategies for global commercial and employment claims disputes and litigation.
Manage and develop case strategy supervise and manage outside counsel and regularly report on litigation developments.
Integral direction and involvement in and responsibility for all aspects of case preparation including witness interviews discovery (extensive document productions depositions and drafting of discovery responses) motion practice trial preparation trials and appeals.
Think creatively and provide daily tactical counsel and innovative legal solutions to challenging issues facing Jabils global business units in an expedited manner.
Leadand support investigations and collaborate with other functions to improve Jabils investigation processes.
Responsible for counseling other law groups and Jabil employees on business disputes and other pre-litigation matters to minimize risk and ideally avoid litigation.
Navigate competing workflows set appropriate priorities with internal stakeholders and drive and deliver results within agreed timelines.
Exercise mature and reliable judgment in making and articulating determinations regarding legal risks and benefits.
Developupdate and advise on existing and proposed policies and processes in close collaboration with the legal functions and business stakeholders.
Efficientlyand proactively manage commercial and labor & employment litigation pre-litigation disputes and claims.
Effectivelymanage outside counsel including engagement document retention and production discovery budgets staffing and strategy.
Proactivelyidentify and mitigate legal risks by developing and delivering training programs which inform business leaders on relevant laws regulations lessons learned and best practices.
Draftdemand letters pleadings discovery settlement agreements and other contractual agreements.
Responsibilityfor work in locations within and outside of the US.
Collaboratewith key internal clients to identify and drive process improvements develop templates and self-service systems and tools risk mitigation strategies and practices.
Domestic and possible international travel is expected.
Qualifications:
J.D.and a member in good standing of a State Bar.
8-11years litigation experience preferably in both law firm and in-house setting of a global industrial company with exposure to commercial and employment matters.
Strongknowledge of civil procedure and discovery process.
Fluencyin business principles to credibly communicate with and influence business leaders.
Comfortand experience using a commercial business-oriented approach to problem solving tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk.
Demonstratedsubject matter expertise in litigation and proven ability to manage and direct in-house practice across multiple jurisdictions and across the company with minimal supervision including at the most complex level.
Demonstratedability to proactively lead and drive change and improvement aligned to corporate priorities strategic goals risk mitigation needs and practical realities.
Experiencein setting and managing budgets and leading outside counsel and internal partners to achieve strategic goals.
Highlevel of integrity and trust and possessing a strong ethical center.
Superiorlegal writing (writing sample required) and analytical skills excellent judgment and initiative.
Demonstratedability to make sound decisions and commitment to continuous learning.
Demonstratedability and commitment to work in a changing fast-paced and energetic environment; ability to establish and meet short-and long-term deadlines.
A self-starter and muli-tasker able to handle many complex legal matters simultaneously.
Possess excellentinterpersonal and collaboration skills including the ability to influence and build relationships and interact effectively at all levels of the organization; ability to stand firm on issues when necessary.
Possesssound judgment self-confidence and a strong professional presence and respect for others regardless of position including desire to work as a team member with all levels of management.
Preferred:
Commercial litigation and trial experience at a large multinational law firm.
Experience with litigation arbitration and investigation matters for large companies.
Internationallitigation experience is a plus.
Fluencyin a second language such as Spanish or Mandarin is a plus.
