About the role!

The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for providing speech and language assessments and therapy for the Clinical Services Division at CHC in Palo Alto. Duties include working as a member of a multidisciplinary team to assess treat and manage services for children with communication disorders and other co-occurring conditions. Provide single discipline speech and language assessments and individual and/or group therapy for children with communication disorders.

The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for integrating their findings and communicating with parents other team members and community professionals. The SLP plans organizes and conducts speech/language therapy in an outpatient clinic setting to facilitate the development and rehabilitation of children adolescents and young adults with mental health needs and speech/language limitations by performing the following duties. This position currently reports to the Clinical Program Manager.

As a Speech and Language Pathologist you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of speech language and communication disorders in children from infancy through adolescence including a comprehensive interview with parents and/or treating speech language pathologist interpret previous testing administer current testing score interpret tests and provide recommendations and feedback to parents.
  • Perform a comprehensive clinical interview with parents.
  • Perform on-site school observations when needed.
  • Participate in a team or single discipline parent conference.
  • Collaborate with the team when appropriate to compile a diagnostic team report or summary.
  • Write a detailed Speech/Language Assessment report and/or contribute to a Diagnostic Team Summary/Report.
  • Provide speech and language therapy to address speech and language deficits of children with communication delays.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and goals based on assessment results and family input.
  • Provide evidence-based therapy to address a range of speech and language disorders including articulation phonology fluency voice receptive and expressive language and social pragmatic communication.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions using a variety of techniques and modalities to meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Monitor and document patient progress adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Coordinate clinical care with other disciplines including SLP OT Education and Psychiatry.
  • Educate and support families providing them with the tools and strategies to reinforce therapy goals at home.
  • Participate in outreach care consultation program parent education group treatment and professional development as requested by manager.
  • Consult with other members of the clinical team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate speech/language therapy with other therapeutic activities.
  • Fulfill patient billable hour expectation and documentation standards as assigned by Clinical Director and/or Clinical Program Manager.
  • Conduct in-service training and seminars at CHC or within the community including continuing education and parent education as requested.
  • Attend clinical staff and team meetings as assigned and serve on committees as needed to ensure program and service quality.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards as outlined by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and state licensure requirements.

What were looking for:

  • Knowledge and understanding of CHCs four areas of expertise: ADHD LD Anxiety & Depression and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Ability and desire to work as part of interdisciplinary clinic.
  • Practical clinical experience preferably in interdisciplinary setting.
  • Possesses exceptional customer service interpersonal and written communication skills with demonstrated sensitivity to and flexibility with varied clients and situations.
  • Willingness and flexibility to schedule appointments when clients and families are available especially after school.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computers.
  • Fluency in client languages such as; Spanish Hebrew or Vietnamese preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of evidence-based practice.

About your background (education/experience):

  • Masters degree or higher.
  • Valid Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) required.
  • Valid California State license State of California credential with authorization in Language Speech and Hearing.
  • Three years post licensure experience in pediatric clinic or school setting preferred.

Special Job Requirements:

  • To meet the needs of our clients after-school availability in the afternoon and evening hours is required.
  • Availability between 2-6pm is preferred.

Compensation range below is based on a 1.0 FTE:

Range: $114000-$135000 per year

Pay Type: salary

The actual base salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background training work experience location business needs and market demand. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
