Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Machine Operator Lead assists the Supervisor with managing the work of the team including training new employees and acting as the department Safety Champion performs departmental tasks as assigned by the Supervisor operates and sets up all machine shop and press-in assembly processing under the direction of the Roller Shop Supervisor.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Adheringto all warehouse and roller shop department safety policies and procedures
  • Working independently as well as in a team environment
  • Following specifications in job orders verbal instructions and blueprints
  • Observing machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
  • Maintaining department database prepares routine reports and files records
  • Performing routine machine inspections
  • Performing training of employees on all equipment and processes
  • Comprehensive understanding of drawings and instructions used in the Roller Shop Department
  • Responsible for aiding the Roller Shop Department and with the development of processes for new products
  • Must be able to set up and operate all equipment in the roller shop area
  • Willing and able to train roller shop employees on all equipment and processes
  • Capable of making adjustments to the equipment and process to correct defective materials and questionable conditions
  • Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Employees are responsible to comply with all requirements of Daifukus QMS policies and procedures.
  • Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Tube Cut Off Machine
  • Drill and Tap Lath
  • Manual Lath

  • Milling Machine
  • Drill Press
  • Axle Cut Off Machine
  • Grooving Machine

Capability to perform all required machine setups including:

  • Die Changes/ Replacements
  • Replacements of cutters springs guides drills taps belts saw blades
  • Attachments Replacements
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of standard and metric measurements
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Team orientation
  • LOTO operation certification required
  • Forklift operation certification required
  • Crane operation certification required
  • Big Joe operation certification required

ADA Requirements:

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw drag haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately loudly or quickly.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists hands and/or fingers.
  • Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Job Conditions:

  • The worker is subject to: inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The worker is subject to: hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts moving vehicles electrical current working on scaffolding and high places exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to: oils there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
