QUALIFICATIONS:
RESET Teacher/Special Education Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher from a recognized accredited college or university.
- Valid teacher certification in Special Education and PPR (Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities).
- Demonstrated successful experience in working with special needs students preferred.
- Knowledge of special education law.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Three (3) years of successful experience as a special education teacher preferred.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Probationary/Term Contract: 187 days
SALARY:
Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works with campus staff to implement academic behavioral and social-emotional strategies and interventions which result in positive student behavior.
- Effectively manages behavior of students assigned to the RESET program.
- Assists in the development and implementing of Behavior Intervention Plans and academic and behavior IEPs for students.
- Implements all elements of the RESET program including academic and behavioral guidance data collection and monitoring student reinforcement and attending trips to purchase student items for the RESET classroom.
- Provides support and assistance to staff with students who demonstrate chronic behavioral needs and are not served in the RESET program.
- Provides follow-up training for campus personnel on implementing the RESET program as needed.
- Attends staffings to provide input at IEP meetings for all students served in the RESET program.
- Serves as a resource to the campus in identifying and implementing effective research-based strategies that lead to positive behavior outcomes for students.
- Participates in district-wide staff development and training in the areas of RESET and Special Education.
- Provides instruction to students served in the RESET program and maintains a collaborative relationship with general education staff.
- Maintains portfolios that are data-driven for all students served through the RESET program.
- Provides on-going communication with parents of students utilizing RESET documentation forms.
- Utilizes the Review 360 program to chart and monitor RESET student behaviors and submits to district personnel.
- Maintains classroom logs and monitoring sheets as documentation of students served in the RESET classroom.
- Provides leadership and direction to RESET paraprofessionals and works collaboratively for the success of students.
- Obtains and maintains current certification in CPI Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Institute.
- Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expecting the same from colleagues.
- Reliable; demonstrates the technical knowledge for effective handling of assignment; effectiveness in responsibility; knowledge and understanding of school district policy practices and procedures.
- Uses good judgment self-regulation and the ability to work with challenging potentially escalated students in an empathetic and constructive way; stays current on trauma-informed practices.
- Is self-starting and self-demanding; works without supervision; works toward self-improvement; continues to grow professionally.
- Demonstrates both a constructive and creative attitude toward the job; gives and receives constructive criticism in a positive way; works with students with emotional behavioral and academic difficulties; supports decisions and policies of supervisors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
