Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced corporate and M&A lawyer to join the Practical Law Corporate and M&A team in the United States.

About the Role
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law you will use your specialist legal knowledge of and experience in corporate and M&A law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.
Major responsibilities/accountabilities
- Research write and maintain clear current and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs and business objectives.
- Review and edit content written by others whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
- Keep up to date with legal practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate relevant and aligned with business objectives.
- Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions.
- Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
- Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
- Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team working with product management sales marketing and technology functions where necessary.
About You
Youre a fit for the role if you are a Juris Doctor with a current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and have:
- At least 8 years experience of working as a corporate and M&A lawyer in a law firm or in-house.
- Extensive experience in:
- Corporate law (entity formation and ongoing governance) with in-depth knowledge of the Delaware General Corporation Law Delaware Limited Liability Company Act and Delaware case law.
- Mergers and acquisitions (public or private though the ideal candidate will have at least some familiarity with public company M&A).
- Some knowledge of the needs and priorities of corporate and M&A lawyers including experience drafting and negotiating M&A agreements and other corporate forms and standard practice materials as well as advising boards and senior management on related matters.
- Strong writing skills and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately concisely and in plain English.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools including generative AI technologies to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
- A curious mindset including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice adaptable and open to change.
- Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
Candidates selected for a second interview will be asked to take a writing test.
