Senior Specialist Legal Editor Corporate and M&A

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced corporate and M&A lawyer to join the Practical Law Corporate and M&A team in the United States.

About the Role

As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law you will use your specialist legal knowledge of and experience in corporate and M&A law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.

Major responsibilities/accountabilities

  • Research write and maintain clear current and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs and business objectives.
  • Review and edit content written by others whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
  • Keep up to date with legal practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate relevant and aligned with business objectives.
  • Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions.
  • Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
  • Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team working with product management sales marketing and technology functions where necessary.

About You

Youre a fit for the role if you are a Juris Doctor with a current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction and have:

  • At least 8 years experience of working as a corporate and M&A lawyer in a law firm or in-house.
  • Extensive experience in:
    • Corporate law (entity formation and ongoing governance) with in-depth knowledge of the Delaware General Corporation Law Delaware Limited Liability Company Act and Delaware case law.
    • Mergers and acquisitions (public or private though the ideal candidate will have at least some familiarity with public company M&A).
  • Some knowledge of the needs and priorities of corporate and M&A lawyers including experience drafting and negotiating M&A agreements and other corporate forms and standard practice materials as well as advising boards and senior management on related matters.
  • Strong writing skills and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately concisely and in plain English.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools including generative AI technologies to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
  • A curious mindset including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice adaptable and open to change.
  • Experience of using AI tools in legal work.

    Candidates selected for a second interview will be asked to take a writing test.

    Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations unless otherwise noted the base compensation range for this role is $116900 - $217100. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individuals knowledge skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
