About the Role

We are currently seeking students to join our Business Services and Audit teams at BDO (NTH QLD). We understand the importance of balancing work and study which is why our Undergraduate program is designed with flexibility in mind allowing you to work while completing your studies.

In Business Services you will:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of business reporting including payroll superannuation GST financial reporting and ATO deadlines

  • Gain hands-on experience in supporting business owners with finance and accounting matters with a view to developing your knowledge in identifying important trends to enhance business performance.

Upon completion of your university degree you will transition into a Graduate role where your career will then progress to developing taxation and business advisory expertise. These skills will be developed through on-the-job training within our supportive Business Services team environment as well as through a formal structured training program.

As an Undergraduate in Audit you will get hands on experience in our Financial Reporting Team and be involved in real client work. You will gain skills and understanding in the following areas:

  • Business accounting including payroll creditors processing and preparation of monthly management accounts

  • Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software including training and certification in systems such as MYOB and XERO.

Upon completion of your university degree you will transition into a Graduate role with the Audit team. As part of the audit team you will spend time at the clients premises building an understanding of the clients business identifying potential risks and analysing information to provide the client and their stakeholders a level of assurance on the financial statements. You will be supported in your career development with a formal structured training program and on the job mentoring.

About You

We are excited to welcome students to our Business Services and Audit teams. Our ideal candidates have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • You are currently studying a relevant qualification such as a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) Bachelor of Commerce or similar. Alternatively you may have a Bachelor degree in another discipline and have a keen interest or practical experience in accounting

  • You bring a proactive approach to work and thrive in a collaborative environment

  • You are confident in your communication and have excellent interpersonal skills

  • You possess a sharp attention to detail maintain excellent organisation and consistently demonstrate professionalism

  • You are tech-savvy with experience in Microsoft Office applications and are quick to adapt to new technologies
