Job Description
Position Description:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer with solid experience in IBM DataStage and IBM Cognos and proficiency in French to join our growing data team. In this role you will be responsible for developing and maintaining ETL processes to consolidate and transform data from various sources and for supporting reporting and analytics initiatives using Cognos.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the full data pipeline from data ingestion to business-ready reporting outputs and is able to communicate effectively in both English and French as the project involves collaboration with French-speaking stakeholders.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Design build and maintain robust ETL pipelines using IBM DataStage.
- Perform data extraction transformation and loading from multiple sources into the enterprise data warehouse.
- Develop and maintain reports dashboards and data models using IBM Cognos Analytics.
- Collaborate with French-speaking business analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data flows and reporting solutions.
- Monitor ETL jobs identify performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot data quality issues.
- Ensure data consistency accuracy and reliability across systems and reports.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for ETL jobs data models and report logic.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering and BI practices.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- 3 years of hands-on experience with IBM DataStage in an enterprise environment.
- 2 years of experience with IBM Cognos Analytics (reporting dashboards or modeling).
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g. DB2 Oracle SQL Server).
- Good understanding of data warehouse architecture ETL best practices and data modeling (star/snowflake schemas).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data processing and reporting issues efficiently.
- Professional working proficiency in French is required (written and spoken).
- Solid understanding of data governance and data quality principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills; ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in French and English.
