Job Description

About this role:

The Head of UK/Ireland FI Debt Capital Markets (DCM) will hold a senior role within the EMEA CIB business responsible for the DCM coverage for UK/Ireland FI clients. Reporting to the EMEA Head of Debt Capital Markets the role holder will be responsible for building out and leading the UK/Ireland DCM origination platform. Within this role you will foster broader engagement and business with the client base; across both new clients and new products.


In this role you will:

  • Responsible for delivering primary coverage and content to clients
  • Provide differentiated ideas and deliver technical content
  • Proactive approach and high level of awareness to all aspects of risk management
  • Work closely with the Head of EMEA DCM and other senior Capital Markets and Banking leaders to increase our enterprise in UK/Ireland FI DCM
  • Collaborate closely within the CIB unit both International and the US proactively find opportunities where you can give value back in to the franchise / leverage your client work
  • Build a strong network within the CIB (banking senior management and product teams) which you can use as leverage with your clients
  • Proactively engaging with both internal and external stakeholders in order to identify develop and execute upon opportunities
  • Lead engagement with clients in order to deliver analysis and content representing the group
  • Responsible for working on client projects autonomously from conceptualizing and generating analyses evaluating the risks and opportunities engaging with the appropriate internal coverage and product partners and preparing the materials and delivering that content to clients.
  • Take an active role in developing juniors and cultivating junior talent


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Investment Banking or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience training military experience education
  • Management or leadership experience
  • Relevant capital markets / corporate and investment banking industry experience
  • Strong analytical skills required to provide detailed analysis
  • Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial / lateral approach to identifying client opportunities
  • Willingness to take on significant responsibility
  • Ability to articulate issues risks and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
  • Ability to work effectively both in larger groups on complex projects but also be independently motivated as a self-starter on other projects
  • Experience of producing marketing documents and pitch materials including both client specific presentations and general information materials for broad distribution both internally and externally
  • Desire to collaborate and partner with team members to deliver exceptional client content
  • Understanding of banking regulations and structuring capital markets solutions designed to address regulatory requirements
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to find solutions to complex financial problems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Certified Person function under the FCA and PRA Certification Regime
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent


Job Expectations:

  • Ideally have in excess of 10 years of experience in capital markets.

  • Have strong existing relationships and a proven track record with UK and Irish FI DCM issuers.

  • Expected to work alongside specialists and client coverage groups to deliver both bespoke client content as well as thought pieces for general client distribution.
