You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailPostdoctoral positions in structural biology of macromolecular complexes are available in the laboratory of Dr. Eva Kowalinski at the EMBL Grenoble France. We are looking for highly motivated and ambitious individuals to join investigations into the structure and function of large RNA-protein complexes involved in RNA processing. We will use a multidisciplinary approach to tackle complex biochemical problems by combining diverse structural biology methods including single particle cryo-EM X-ray crystallography and scattering techniques with structure modelling and biochemical and biophysical methods and cell biology. Knowledge of French is not necessary.
You have
The successful candidate should have a PhD in molecular biology biochemistry or a related field. Experience in structural and molecular biology techniques biochemistry biophysics and cryo-EM is required. We are particularly interested in applicants with prior experience in RNA biology and biochemical characterisation of protein-RNA complexes. An ERC-funded position will dissect pre-mRNA processing pathways in the infective organism Trypanosoma brucei. An ANR-funded position will characterise large complexes involved in mRNA modification.
About EMBL Grenoble
EMBL is one of the worlds leading research organisations in biomedical science. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany) with additional sites in Barcelona (Spain) Grenoble (France) Hamburg (Germany) Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy). The EMBL Grenoble campus enables access to state-of-the-art structural biology technologies including the ESRF synchrotron with X-ray beamlines and access to high-end cryo-EM infrastructure and NMR at the neighbouring IBS. In-house at EMBL Grenoble you will find facilities for eukaryotic protein expression a state-of-the-art biophysics platform confocal microscopy and a Glacios electron microscope with a Falcon 4i direct electron detector and Selectris X energy filter. In addition to local instrumentation we have access to EMBL-wide core facilities.
