We are hiring: Misdemeanor Probation Officer - Beta

Starting Wage

  • Salary: The starting salary for this position is $20.00/hour DOE.
    • Candidates who are POST Certified may be considered at a higher rate of pay.

Job Type

  • Full-Time Non-Exempt

Schedule

  • Standard Hours: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday

Training

  • Orientation: Alternatives provides thorough orientation and training for all new staff. You can expect a one-week orientation where you will learn all about Alternatives and be prepared for your role. This first week is scheduled from 9 AM to 5 PM at our Alternatives Training Center.

To be a successful Misdemeanor Probation Officer you will need the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 2 years experience in social services law enforcement or corrections.
    • Over 5 years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must have excellent boundaries being able to be firm fair and consistent with clients.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Must have experience using computers and various databases. Microsoft skills and familiarity is a plus.
  • Must be able to maintain professional relationships and rapport with outside agencies.
  • Must pass federal background check and drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.

What Will You Do in This Position

As a Misdemeanor Probation Officer you will monitor and clearly document all Misdemeanor supervision functions of clients of Alternatives Inc.

Great public relations and interpersonal skills are imperative as you will work closely with local agencies and courts.

Each probation officer will have an assigned caseload to manage; including monitoring court mandates placed on offenders referrals for assistance completing thorough intakes and documentation and reporting violations in a timely manner.

About the Team

The Misdemeanor Probation Officer is part of the Beta team of Alternatives Inc.

The Beta team is led by a talented Director of Community Services who oversees case management misdemeanor probation and all Beta client services.

The Beta team prides themselves on providing excellent service to clients while working together to ensure all Alternatives team members and clients are taken care of. Beta is a high-paced environment with a multitude of different services and clients seen throughout the day. No two days are the same and they are happy to be able to work with our diverse community clientele. PTO

  • Accrual: Start accruing PTO from your first paycheck. Full-time (40-hour) employees with 0-2 years of employment accrue 4.65 hours per pay period totaling 15 days a year.
  • Increased Accrual with Tenure: Accrual rates increase at 3 years 5 years and every subsequent 5-year mark up to 25 years.
  • Pro Rata Basis: Accrual rates for employees working 20-30 hours per week are on a pro rata basis.

Paid Holidays

  • Full-Time Employees: Enjoy 11 paid holidays.
  • Part-Time Employees: Employees working 20-30 hours per week also receive paid holidays on a pro-rate basis.
