Certified Surgical Tech/First Assist (Permanent Role) Location: Lakeway TX 78738
Shift: 12 HR Day Shift 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: (36 hours/week)
Compensation: Based on experience
Essential Functions: - Ensure all surgical supplies instruments and equipment are available sterilized and functioning properly before procedures.
- Review and update surgeon preference cards regularly for accuracy.
- Pull and set up surgical cases according to the schedule.
- Collaborate with surgeons regarding specialized equipment or supply needs.
- Construct and maintain specialty instrument trays.
- Prepare the operating room per surgical procedure protocols.
- Maintain sterile field and arrange instruments and equipment for surgeries.
- Perform instrument wrapping and sterilization using gas or steam methods.
- Conduct equipment quality control checks and report any malfunctions.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the operating room before and after procedures.
- Scrub in for surgical procedures across major surgical specialties.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of human anatomy surgical tools and surgeon preferences.
- Educate and orient surgical team members on procedure expectations.
- Assist with patient positioning prepping and draping.
- Support the surgeon by passing sterile instruments retracting tissues suturing cauterizing and applying dressings.
- Perform complex surgical techniques as directed by the surgeon and within Texas scope of practice.
- Handle surgical specimens according to protocol and ensure timely delivery to appropriate departments.
- Communicate with pharmacy and circulating nurse for required medications.
- Assist with vendor coordination equipment sourcing and capital purchase research.
- Keep current with surgical technologies and attend ongoing education or in-service programs.
- Act as a resource and mentor to new staff and surgical tech trainees.

Qualifications: - Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or First Assist program
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent surgical/OR experience required
- Certification/Licensure:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 30 days of hire
- Certification Required:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) NBSTSA or NCCT
- OR Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) NBSTSA
