Job Description

Radiology/Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Permanent Role)

Location: Pflugerville TX 78660
Shift: 12 HR Day Shift
Guaranteed Hours: (12 hours/week)
Compensation: Based on experience

Essential Functions:

1. Quality Assurance

  • Perform high-quality nuclear medicine procedures (planar SPECT SPECT/CT PET).
  • Evaluate images systematically and ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Conduct routine equipment quality control (Q.C.) in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and physicists for maintenance and optimization of imaging equipment.

2. Caring Practices

  • Establish rapport with patients and ensure service expectations are met.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families explaining procedures clearly in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Assess patient tolerance and comfort throughout the imaging process.

3. Patient Safety

  • Use clear and compassionate communication to ease patient anxiety.
  • Follow strict safety protocols for infection control and equipment use.
  • Position patients accurately and use immobilization devices as necessary.
  • Apply aseptic or sterile techniques during invasive procedures.

4. Radiation Safety

  • Follow all policies for radiation protection and dosage accuracy.
  • Confirm correct radiopharmaceutical selection and administration.
  • Screen patients for pregnancy and contraindications prior to procedures.
  • Educate patients about radiation safety and post-procedure care.
  • Dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with safety regulations.
Key Success Factors:
  • Ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition promptly.
  • Skill in providing age-appropriate care to a wide range of patients (newborn to geriatric).
  • Capable of using emergency protocols and equipment as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal technical and problem-solving skills.
Required Certification/Licensure:
  • ARRT (N) Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • CNMT Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
