What youd be doing in this role
Frontend roles at Canva can vary a lot from team to teameach offering its own unique challenges and opportunities. You might be crafting rich interactive experiences in the Canva Editor used by millions or shaping end-to-end journeys on surfaces like Canva Docs Presentations and Websites. You could contribute to cutting-edge Magic Studio features powered by AI or help launch fast-paced product experiments that drive real impact. With multiple teams hiring frontend engineers wed love to learn what excites you most and find the right fit for your passions and strengths.
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think thats all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things youll be working on when you start but this will likely evolve. As a general guide heres what a frontend engineer at this level typically focuses on day to day:
- Designing and building user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks
- Collaborating closely with product managers designers and other engineers to deliver features that solve real user problems
- Writing clean well-tested and maintainable code with guidance from more senior engineers
- Contributing to shared libraries design systems and reusable components
- Participating in technical discussions design reviews and regular team rituals
- Continuously learning and growing your frontend craft in a supportive high-trust environment
Youre probably a match if
- You are experienced building web applications using modern frontend technologies like React and TypeScript
- You have solid JavaScript fundamentals and an understanding of how the web works under the hood
- Youre comfortable working through feature development with guidancefrom planning and implementation to testing and release
- You enjoy collaborating in cross-functional teams and are open to feedback that helps you grow
- You care about building accessible performant and user-friendly interfaces
