Job summary
The Fleet Team leader is responsible for overseeing a team of drivers to ensure safe efficient and compliant transportation operations. This role involves managing daily driver activities monitoring performance enforcing company policies and supporting route execution in coordination with dispatch and fleet supervisors.
Main responsibilities
Accountability
- Driver Management
- Handles driver onboarding training and performance reviews.
- Manage driver schedules shift rotations and vehicle assignments.
- Handle driver-related issues including attendance conduct and incident reporting.
- Daily Operations Support :Monitor driver performance and provide coaching feedback and support as needed to ensure vehicles operate effectively and in alignment with established schedules and procedures.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges.
- Lead road recovery / accident recovery efforts.
- Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate with maintenance team for scheduled services
- Receive complaints verify issues and generate maintenance requests.
- Support with external emergency repairs in coordination with maintenance teams.
- Safety & Compliance
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections including pre- and post-delivery checks.
- Document and report incidents or damage; provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Support legal and compliance requirements by advising staff on relevant vehicle regulations.
- Cost Control :Contribute to cost control by identifying routine inefficiencies and ensuring procedures are followed to minimize waste or unnecessary expenditure
- Monitor and control fuel usage and suggest/participate in improvement programs.
