Job Description

St. Joseph Parish in Erie MI is seeking a candidate to fill a position for themusic ministry in our parish.
This candidate should be one who is knowledgeable in the various liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church as well as one who has an initiative to arrange music for the glory and honor of our Blessed Lord within the Liturgy.
The qualifications for this position are:
  • Plan select and prepare music for weekend liturgies Holy Days of Obligation weekday Masses (as required) weddings funerals and periodic seasonal services in collaboration with the priests in our Family of Parishes.
  • Demonstrated ability to judge appropriateness of music for the Liturgy.
  • Communicates clearly effectively and regularly with clergy staff and volunteers.
  • Participates in all required staff meetings within the parish.
  • Actively practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy role of music within the liturgy familiarity withliturgical documents the various rites and music resources the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) and Lectionary.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an organist within a Catholic church environment required.
