Seeking a Deputy Head of Primary Plenty Campus

The Deputy Head of Primary at our Plenty Campus is a key leadership position responsible for operational excellence across the Foundation to Year 6 learning community. Reporting to the Head of Primary you will lead the daily execution of programs and priorities with a focus on student wellbeing curriculum implementation staff development and community engagement.

As a member of the Cross-Campus Primary Executive you will also play a role in shaping a unified approach to teaching learning and care across Ivanhoe Grammar Schools primary campuses.

This is an ongoing teaching opportunity with a five-year leadership tenure commencing January 2026.

What you will do
This is a role for a visible hands-on leader who thrives in dynamic environments and is committed to the growth and wellbeing of students and staff. Youll bring structure and clarity to the daily rhythm of the campusmaking things happen supporting the Primary academic team and responding to challenges with care and professionalism.

In this role you will:

  • Work with Primary Executive team to lead support and guide the delivery of high-quality programs
  • be a strong and visible presence in school life fostering a love of learning and modelling Ivanhoes values of character and care
  • use an evidence-based approach to inform academic and wellbeing practices creating relevant and authentic learning experiences
  • demonstrate excellence and adopt a proactive innovative approach to adapting instruction and lessons based on individual student needs
  • provide clarity care and momentum in day-to-day operations including staffing logistics and events
  • build strong partnerships with staff students and families contributing to a vibrant and inclusive school culture

Who you are
You are a confident and compassionate leader who leads with integrity and humility. You bring operational clarity and a deep understanding of teaching and learning in the Primary years. You value the power of teamwork relationships and respectful leadership.

You have the necessary experience knowledge and skills:

  • Proven leadership experience in a primary school setting with relevant teaching qualifications and a strong foundation in curriculum wellbeing and staff development
  • outstanding interpersonal organisational and communication skills with the ability to foster a culture of respect reflection and collaboration
  • commitment to contemporary evidence-based teaching practices with the capacity to tailor instruction to individual student needs
  • expertise in supporting both acute and long-term student wellbeing through proactive student-centred care
  • sound knowledge of child safety inclusive practice and educational compliance requirements
