Logistics Management
Manage the scheduling and coordination of inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials and finished castings.
Ensure that transportation and delivery schedules are adhered to preventing delays in production and customer delivery.
Coordinate with external transportation providers including freight forwarders and trucking companies to ensure cost-effective and timely deliveries.
Ensure that steel billets alloys and other heavy materials are safely transported to the production area and finished products are shipped to the final destination.
Inventory Control & Documentation
Assist in maintaining accurate records of materials received and issued ensuring all materials are properly logged into the inventory system.
Track and update stock levels for raw materials consumables and finished products ensuring that the required inventory is available for production without overstocking.
Maintain proper documentation for all logistics-related activities including shipping receipts transportation invoices and inventory updates.
Ensure compliance with safety and quality regulations during material handling and transportation.
Material Handling & Distribution
Coordinate the movement of heavy materials and castings in the facility ensuring proper handling equipment (e.g. forklifts cranes) is used.
Work closely with the warehouse team to manage the movement of materials and ensure that all raw materials are available on time for production.
Oversee the loading and unloading of materials and finished products ensuring they are safely handled and accurately documented.
Manage the safe storage of materials in the warehouse ensuring that they are organized in a way that minimizes damage and maximizes space.
Team Collaboration & Support
Coordinate with procurement production and sales teams to ensure the smooth flow of materials and finished products across the facility.
Communicate with internal departments to ensure that logistics requirements align with production schedules and customer orders.
Provide assistance to the logistics manager in planning and improving logistics operations for greater efficiency.
Support warehouse and production teams with any logistical needs ensuring the timely availability of materials.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure that all logistics activities are carried out in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory standards particularly for the handling of hazardous materials and heavy equipment.
Assist in maintaining compliance with transportation safety regulations including vehicle safety inspections and hazardous material handling.
Ensure that all materials are properly labeled and documented especially for hazardous substances in line with industry regulations.
Continuous Improvement
Monitor logistics operations and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
Suggest and implement solutions for optimizing delivery routes managing inventory and minimizing delays.
Support the implementation of Lean or Six Sigma initiatives to streamline logistics processes and improve operational performance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelors degree in Logistics Supply Chain Management or related field is a plus.
23 years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles preferably in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment such as steel foundries.
Familiarity with inventory management systems (ERP SAP or similar).
Strong understanding of logistics operations transportation regulations and material handling processes.
Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklifts cranes etc.) and knowledge of safe handling techniques for heavy materials.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various teams across the organization.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
