Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead on the assembly and testing of robotic electro-mechanical systems including mechanical assemblies wiring and PCB integration.

  • Develop and refine assembly processes for repeatability efficiency and quality.

  • Build and iterate on prototypes pilot units and low-volume production systems.

  • Create and use custom tools fixtures and jigs to improve assembly accuracy and efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain clear work instructions and assembly procedures.

  • Collaborate with design engineers to improve DFM/DFA scalability cost and streamline builds.

  • Interpret and contribute to assembly documentation mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

  • Conduct testing debugging and validation of assemblies and systems.

  • Support and influence NPI (New Product Introduction) processes from prototype to production hand-off.

  • Collaborate on the creation and maintenance of BOMs and related documentation.

  • Manage and maintain lab equipment tools inventory and workspace organization.

  •  

    Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.


Qualifications :

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer manufacturing technician or similar with hands-on mechanical and electrical assembly manufacturing complex hardware systems.

  • Proven track record of working on products from small scale production to scaling production.

  • Deep familiarity with electro-mechanical systems including reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

  • Strong practical skills: soldering crimping wiring harnesses basic machining use of hand/power tools.

  • Experience developing and improving assembly processes and work instructions.

  • Comfortable with prototype iteration and adapting processes quickly based on feedback.

  • Solid understanding of DFM/DFA principles and experience supporting product design teams.

  • Proficient with CAD software (Fusion 360 Altium) and basic documentation tools (Excel Word Notion).

  • Self-directed organized and able to manage multiple build efforts simultaneously.

  • Experience managing a lab or workshop.

  • Experience with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems test development 3D printing and basic CNC/machining.

Other Details:

  • Due to the hands-on nature of the role this position is on-site and requires daily presence in our lab and manufacturing workspace at The National Robotarium in Edinburgh (UK)
